Relay For Life-Pleasntville/Pace University ~April 25-26, 2008

On Friday, April 25, 2008, the Harmon Family participated in the first annual Pace University/
Pleasantville Relay For Life®. Relay For Life®, the American Cancer Society’s signature event, is a fun-filled overnight experience designed to bring together those who have been touched by cancer. At the event, over 700 people from within our Pleasantville and Pace University communities gathered to celebrate survivors, remember those lost to cancer, and to fight back against this disease. This tremendous event was organized by a volunteer student event committee. Relay participants helped raise money and awareness to support the American Cancer Society in its lifesaving mission to eliminate cancer as a major health issue. The event that night raised over $70,000 for the American Cancer Society! The Harmon’s were touched by the Luminaria Ceremony, which was a time to remember those lost to this disease and celebrate those who have survived. We connected with people, shared our cancer experience, and found comfort and solace in joining together with others in the common goal of hope for a future where cancer no longer threatens the lives of the people we love.
